The Passion of the Christ – Act 1 Scene 1:
It’s midnight in the olive garden of Gethsemane, and Jesus is praying in deep agony and anguish; sweating drops of blood. Pointedly ignoring the voice taunting, mocking Him, He crouches even deeper, face down between His knees…
Jesus: “Abba, Father, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not My will, but Yours be done”
Satan: “Do you really believe that one man can bear the full burden of sin?”
Jesus: “Shelter me, O Lord. I trust You and in You I take refuge”
Satan: “It’s far too heavy, saving their souls is far too costly. No one can carry this burden. Ever. No.
Jesus: “Father, all things are possible for You”
Satan: “Who is your Father, who are you?”
Jesus rises from his knees, lifts his heel and crushes the head of hissing serpent.
We should make this movie, part of our Easter week tradition, if you have never watched this movie, please add the “The Passion of the Christ” to your bucket list of movies to see. And follow through, this Easter by watching it. (Google the movie or check out TBN Channel 40 or 560 for showtimes). Today was Palm Sunday, and the teaching today, renewed my passion and encouraged me for this journey. Look at your hands, we have two palms…lets make them count!
God is so passionate about us and His purpose for our lives, that when thoughts of hopelessness or settling for lesser expectations start creeping into our minds, He wants to root them out with a vengeance. We cannot accept a life of mediocrity, we should not buy into the idea, that our dreams, aspirations and His plans for our lives are unattainable…yes, life is not an easy road to travel, but we never walk alone.
There is NOTHING impossible and NO situation He cannot turn around. We have to get our eyes off ourselves, and set our hopes and expectations from God.
The devil’s job is to question everything… our purpose, God’s word, His will and ultimately ask who our father is and who we are. See how Jesus, keeps his focus on God? Who are you paying attention to? Do you know who you are?
I hope you get to watch this movie this week. I hate horror or gory movies, so I typically look away, unable to watch the scourging and the nails..but today, I thought if He could go through the excruciating pain for me, then the least I could do was watch every brutal, bloody moment and I did, sometimes bawling, groaning with emotions, fingers gripping my sofa digging into the leather, my back arched over.
Being a mom, it was so hard to watch Mary, the mother of Jesus and her supernatural faith in the face of the vicious, heart-wrenching pain and torment…this movie depicts the love and high price of our calling, and it will change you. And when it does, go to our Abba Father, praying:
Father, I confess that Jesus is my Lord. I accept and make Him Lord of my life now. I believe that You raised Jesus from the dead. I renounce my past life with Satan and close the door to any of his devices. Help me to live for you and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I thank you for forgiving me of all my sins. Jesus is my Lord, old things have passed away, now all things have become new in Jesus’ name. Lord, take my life and do something with it. Amen.
Welcome home! Now we have settled the most important questions. Who is your father? God. Who are you? The Redeemed and Beloved of the Lord Jesus. There is so much more. It’s an amazing transformation and your spirit has received zoe-life. Find out who you are in Jesus: Get into the Bible and read, starting with the gospel of John. Get plugged into a church and live by the word of God. This is not about works and doing good, but believing right.
Trust God to finish what He has started in you.
This Easter, instead of getting distracted by bunnies, candy and hardboiled eggs, let’s ignite or rekindle our passion for Him.
HE IS RISEN!
