MINING THE TREASURES OF SUFFERING
We will always have a before and an after the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, because that was such a landmark year.
We collectively shared so much pain and loss that year, but some of us are still here, breathing, taking in the current craziness, and making it through another day. Inarguably, our perspectives and responses to AI take-over, Wars, and the pervasive uncertainty remain the line that divides the crushed from the resilient.
We were entrusted with so much suffering that we dug deep, excavating hidden diamond and gold mines with us. We don’t have to be trouble-free to change the world or help a fellow human being; our nuggets of insight and wisdom from the hard lessons learned are the rewards of persevering, pushing through, and finding a way to scale the looming mountains of our new normal.
Our entire world changed forever. So much so that even now, we still shudder to think of what we survived.
“TO WHOM MUCH (STRENGTH) IS GIVEN, MUCH WILL BE REQUIRED”*
We are not broken to whine and wallow but to multiply. Those who have suffered are required to steward and share those deep treasures that ONLY come from pain.
Suffering deeply makes the victories even sweeter. I hike with my son, Sean, so I know exactly how hard it is to keep going, one foot in front of the other. It’s the AFTER that I’m after. (Pun intended) The exquisite, sweet payoff of pushing through to a grand view and the fresh perspective that is now a brand-new life!
For some reason, this morning I stumbled across some old text messages I sent after being betrayed in the most treacherous and hurtful way. And it’s amazing that this new person I had to become actually giggled at some of my VERY colorful language. Pain can be one’s best teacher and life coach – I didn’t need a guru. I learned to set myself free from undeserving people. You can trust that I strapped on some militant, no-bull, combat boots.
Can you believe we are almost in Summer? Join me and pledge to make this year count. Do things even when you are afraid. Take stock and kick some bad habits, beliefs, and people to the curb, but don’t hate – regulate.
Clear all negative energy sources from your life; don’t passively let anyone without a vision for their life drag you and your potential into their swamp. After years of procrastination and self-doubt, my media company, DORMANES, is ready to launch, and even as a side hustle (because I got a better job during COVID-19), I am excited to start that journey. Who knows what the AFTER will be for my career and passion?
Mining is messy; nothing is glamorous in the trenches. But thank goodness for nuggets – they make suffering and hard work worthwhile.
All we have to do is wash off the dross, cut, and polish our gems.
Ready. Set. Display.
Onward,
Ama
